AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 41-13-35, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXPAND THE POWERS AND AUTHORITY OF THE BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF COMMUNITY HOSPITALS; TO PROVIDE FOR STATE ACTION IMMUNITY FROM STATE AND FEDERAL ANTITRUST LAWS FOR COMMUNITY HOSPITALS; TO AMEND SECTION 41-13-29, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCREASE THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT THAT A BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL MAY COMPENSATE EACH TRUSTEE FOR ATTENDING MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES; TO BRING FORWARD SECTION 41-13-15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH PRESCRIBES THE PROCEDURES FOR THE LEASE OR SALE OF A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, FOR THE PURPOSE OF POSSIBLE AMENDMENT; TO AMEND SECTION 37-115-50, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DEFINE "HEALTH CARE COLLABORATIVE" FOR THE PURPOSE OF JOINT AGREEMENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI MEDICAL CENTER; TO CREATE NEW SECTION 37-115-50.2, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO MAKE CERTAIN LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS ABOUT THE OPERATIONS OF THE MEDICAL CENTER AND TO PROVIDE FOR STATE ACTION IMMUNITY FROM STATE AND FEDERAL ANTITRUST LAWS FOR THE MEDICAL CENTER AND HEALTH CARE COLLABORATIVES ORGANIZED BY THE MEDICAL CENTER; TO CREATE NEW SECTION 37-115-50.3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXPAND THE POWERS AND AUTHORITY OF THE MEDICAL CENTER AND ITS HEALTH CARE COLLABORATIVES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
