AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 97-41-16, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY AND REVISE THE CRIME OF CRUELTY TO A DOG OR CAT; TO SET FORTH PENALTIES FOR THE CRIME; TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN MISDEMEANOR AND FELONY DEGREES OF THE CRIME; TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN ACTIVITIES WILL NOT CONSTITUTE THE CRIME OF CRUELTY TO A DOG OR CAT; TO PROVIDE THAT A CONVICTION OF THE CRIME OF CRUELTY TO A DOG OR CAT DOES NOT PREVENT A CONVICTION UNDER OTHER LAWS RELATING TO ANIMAL CRUELTY CRIMES; TO AMEND SECTIONS 97-41-1, 97-41-2, 97-41-3, 97-41-5, 97-41-7, 97-41-9, 97-41-11, 97-41-13, 97-41-17, 97-41-18, 97-41-19, 97-41-21 AND 97-41-23, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
